Krejci may play opening night after all

According to reports today we may not be without David Krejci for much longer.

According to Claude Julien, David Krejci has a 50-50 chance to dress in next Thursday's regular-season opener against Washington.

"I think Thursday, as we speak today, I'd probably put him at close to a 50-50 chance," Julien said.

David Krejci hasn't played in the preseason, nor will he. However, Krejci seems to be more optomistic than he was just a week ago.

"I think the chances of me playing are a little better. Much better actually. But you know it's going to be, I guess, a 'game day' decision. It's going to be really close," said Krejci.

*I would say Krejci is out for opening night, but you never know.

Here is a look at tonight's lineup against the Montreal Canadiens.

Blake Wheeler - Zach Hamill - Michael Ryder
Mark Recchi - Patrice Bergeron - Chuck Kobasew

Brad Marchand - Vladimir Sobotka - Jeff LoVecchio

Guillaume Lefevbre - Trent Whitfield - Kirk MacDonald

Mark Stuart - Johnny Boychuk

Drew Fata - Dennis Wideman

Andrew Ference - Adam McQuaid

Tim Thomas

Dany Sabourin

*The best battle in camp has been for Krejci's spot if he is not ready for opening night. The battle has been between Vladimir Sobotka and Zach Hamill. Is Hamill's presence on the first line an indicator that he might have the inside edge? Boston's former first round pick (eighth overall) may finally be ready to show his skills on the big stage.
